How much are you willing to a bunch of Grapes? I love me some grapes, but I would never dream of shelling out £465 for a bunch. However, this is exactly what hs happened in Japan which comes up to about £13 per grape. This is beyond ridiculous, what are these people thinking?! It is a perishable food item! They might be called Ruby Roman grapes, but still. A hotel manager paid 465 for 1.5lbs to serve his guests these rare and exquisite grapes. Now, that is what we call good service. These tomato coloured grapes were first auctioned at Japan's northwestern Ishikawa prefecture. Apparently, they are really sweet and tasty and they better be. The bunch that sold for the highest price had about 35 grapes. The average price for a bunch has been £120 at the aouction. These high prices might have something to do with the fact that fruits are considered as luxury gifts in Japan. Also, it is considered prestigious to be the first ones to buy the very first fruit of the year.
I think it absolutely crazy how much people will spend on useless things. I hope, the taste is worth the price.
