Picasso’s painting of his mistress will go under the hammer at London


Sotheby’s will be putting some interesting German Art under the hammer soon at London, along with some rare Picasso paintings. The highlight of the auction will be a rare painting by Picasso, the title “Jeane fille endormie,” for £9 million ($15 million) to £12 million ($20 million) that shows his mistress, Marie-Therese Walter dozing on her folded arms. Marie-Therese Walter-inspired Picasso paintings are said to be quite a hit with the Russians.

The entire lot is estimated to $99 million, of which $78 million is accounted by 59 German art pieces dated to the 1960s and 1970s, which are a part of German industrialist Christian Duerckheim collection, which haven’t been on sale for over 30 years.
