Liz Taylor laid to rest in $11,000 all-mahogany casket

She was an epitome of grace, class and speckless beauty. She shined onscreen with her scintillating beauty, and her elegance captured the hearts of billions worldwide. At 79, she breathed her last and was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California. As a tribute to her full life of splendor and luxury, she was also buried in extravagance in an $11,000 top-of-the-line traditional Jewish casket. It was apparently created out of mahogany wood and lined in red velvet with a matching pillow. She died on March 23 at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Medical Center due to congestive heart failure. As was her style during her prime, her funeral began 15 minutes late concerning her request. The ‘Cleopatra’s’ casket was adorned with violets, gardenias, and lily of the valley. Rabbi Jerry Cutler conducted the service while close friend actor Colin Farrell read out a poem. Her four children and 10 grandchildren attended the service, and other family and close friends while her fans paid their respects from the gate.
