Roman Abramovich celebrates 2012 with the most expensive New Year’s Eve party

Russian tycoon and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and his girl friend Dasha Zukhova threw a huge party on New Year’s Eve at his £58 million holiday estate on the Caribbean island of St Barts. Yes, that is what affluent people with an eye for taste do for their near and dear ones. To end the long year that was, 300 guests were invited for a special party at his estate – at $7.7 million, special was but an understatement. He raised the bar by more than a million dollar as compared to last year’s $ 5million bash. The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed for guests who were dressed in the ‘island chic’ theme. The highlight of the occasion, however, was that the guests got to party on a group of super yachts in the estate marina, one of which is a $465 million vessel called Eclipse.

This beauty apparently is fully-equipped in the best from the yacht industry including bulletproof glass, a submarine and a system for detecting missiles. What is more, the members of staff include former military personnel from the Russian special forces!
