While scanning through yesterday’s newspaper, I noticed a column that read about a man who dedicated eight years to designing his apartment in to a Star Trek vista and I couldn’t help wondering if he included the James T.Kirk Captain’s Chair. It is a full scale replica of Kirk’s Captain’s chair from the Original Star Trek IV series. There are only 1,701 units available for this design conceived by Matt Jefferies.

The wood and steel platformed chair is upholstered with a leather seat and the back with oak armrests. The chair is a live show with the 360-degree swivel action, various toggle switches, knobs and buttons from the series which are designed to play classic Trek dialogues and sound effects through the inbuilt speakers under the seat.
