James Van Vossel's Z-ball receives an award
James Van Vossel who designed a pretty cool Z-ball has received an award for it at Interieur 08. The Royal Ahrend bestowed him with this honor for a seating idea for a learning environment. The concept says: "Z-Ball is an inflatable ball with 3 handles. The position of these equal handles stimulates an even better position of the 5-attitudes of the back: it stimulates to sit at the front side of the ball while the 2 other handles give support to the loin." It seems pretty clever, but I don't know how comfortable it will be. Take a look at the images to get a better understanding of how the Z-ball functions.
The Z-ball might be good for your posture, but something tells me that I'd pick a beanbag over it any day.
