• $2200 per month rental robot suit to help you walk

    robot_suit_1.jpg Hybrid assistive limb- HAL is a robotic suit that helps elderly and disabled people walk. This computerized suit with sensors will be available for rent in Japan for $2200 per month. Cyberdyne, a new company in Tokyo will manufacture this invention that has wide-ranging benefits for the elderly others with movement disabilities. The 22 pound battery-operated computer system is fastened to the waist. It captures the brain signals and relays them to mechanical leg braces strapped to the thighs and knees, which then provide robotic assistance to people as they walk.

    Tsukuba professor who designed HALand has worked on it since 1992 says a full device that covers the entire body is also being designed, though it is unclear when it will be available commercially.
