• $65 million worth jewelry robbed in Graff Diamonds- Britain’s biggest gem heist

robbery.jpg The Graff Diamonds boutique in London's New Bond Street saw two men dressed in suits, hiding handguns and escape with 43 rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches last week. The two men arrived in a taxi at 4.40pm on August 6 and were in the jewelry store for just a few minutes. The robbers threatened the staff with handguns, briefly held a woman employee as a hostage, and fired warning shots as they vanished in their cars in no time. Their escape was nearly hindered when the car crashed into a black cab in Dover Street. The driver and a few more men from the nearby pub chased them exactly when the men fired another round into the ground to warn them off. The robbers then switched into a silver Mercedes and then again into a black vehicle and flew. During this change the jewels were transferred to a waiting motorcyclist who escaped quickly.

Detectives believe that the robbers targeted the most expensive items in the store. The suspect’s details have been circulated to all ports and airports but police believe they would have escaped and left the country by now.
