I must admit that if you asked me about my dream job, it would be on an island doing pretty much nothing. I'm sure more than half of the world would jump at a job like this. Ben Southall, 34 did and actually landed it from amongst 34,000 applicants from 200 countries. He is one lucky Brit who will be paid $106,000 to spend six months on Hamilton Island off Queensland, Australia. And the working hours? 12 hours a month, you heard me right. All he has to do more or less is sunbathing, snorkeling, watching whales and writing a weekly blog. Ben, of Petersfield, Hants got this ultimate job after the final 16 candidates explored the island’s golden beaches, diving the Great Barrier Reef, and eating gourmet food.
Ben's dad, Duncan, had first applied for the job but only as a joke. This got Ben interested who loves being outdoors. That is obvious since he has worked as a tour guide in Africa and as an events manager in the UK. He will be living absolutely rent free in a beach villa with his Canadian girlfriend Bre. We hope Tourism Queensland has made the right choice, if not then they can always give me a call.
