Expecting parents now have the opportunity to commemorate the image of their unborn baby in a 3D bronze model thanks to the London Ultrasound Centre. This clinic uses a 3D printer ultrasound images to build the cast with special dust and glue, which is then set in bronze. The whole procedure takes around two-and-a-half weeks to make and for
approx $1650. The London Ultrasound Centre is the first in the country to offer this service and the doctors believe that this technology could also help improve survival rates for sick babies as precise casts of birth defects could be taken in the womb then studied by surgeons before they operate.
