Al-Zaidi, the man responsible for throwing the shoe at President Bush in December landed in jail for his actions but his angry gesture touched a lot of Arab and Muslim in the world. Assisted by war-beaten orphans of the northern Iraqi city of Tikrit, sculptor Laith al-Amiri erected a brown replica of the shoe hurled at Bush. The shoe monument is developed out of fiberglass and coated with copper, consists of the shoe and a concrete base. The entire monument is 3.5 meters high and 2.5 meters long and 1.5 meters wide and has been unveiled in a ceremony at the Tikrit Orphanage complex. The cost of building the entire sculpture is $5,000.
