Truck owner and driver charged with a whopping $37,555 traffic ticket

If you think you have paid some of the highest fines for ignoring traffic rules, think again. As reported by
Yahoo! news, a Lehigh Valley, PA Police Officer said the highest fine he’s ever seen on a traffic ticket was $37,554.54! This heavy ticket was impounded on the truck driver and owner for not getting a “super load” permit. The truck was hauling a 213,000-pound steel cylinder and sat idle for almost three weeks after it tipped over on March 12, 2009 because a new route, proper permits and a police escort took a while to organize.

I knew traffic tickets can burn a hole in your pockets, but this one must have left quite a gaping hole in the owner’s bank account.
