For $5.2 million, McLaren SLR 999 is adorned with 5 kilos of gold and 600 rubies


What happens when tuners pick a stunning drive to do up? Well, if you can’t make its performance any better, you can at least make up for to by making it dazzling to look at. And that is precisely what Swiss auto designer Ueli Anliker has managed to do. To be presented at the Dortmund MY CAR tuning show, Germany is a stunning bling McLaren SLR 999, which is done up with over 5kgs of gold plated on its body. However, that’s not where the bling-factor ends. The car also features 600 rubies, with some stones measuring 35mm in diameter. The master designer has been doing this type of tuning jobs for as many as 35-years. Insurance estimates indicate that the car costs as many as $5.2 million, barring labor costs.
