Sir Elton John’s 1965 Jaguar E-Type to go under the hammer


If you ever wanted to own a piece of Elton John then here is your chance. On March 3rd, 2012, Bonhams will auction off Sir Elton John’s 1965 red Jaguar E-Type Series 1 car. This Jaguar still displays the OKE 1 (nicknamed “OK Elton”) number plate. The car itself is described as sleek, racy, elegant, and sporty. It was bought by Elton John in 1987 and is estimated to sell for £50,000-70,000 ($77,000-108,000). This 1961 4.2 liter Roadster was actually a successor to the XK Jaguar and has been touted as the best E-Type of all.

The Collector’s Motor Cars and Automobilia sale will also include 1982 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, 1953 Packard 8 the Caribbean, 1983 Lea Francis 14hp Corsica,1928/29 Packard 633 Saloon, and 1959 Lincoln Continental Convertible MkII.
Update – Formerly the property of Sir Elton John 1965 Jaguar XKE 4.2-Litre Series I Roadster fetches $130,000 (£82,140).
