Princess Diana’s gown for auction on eBay starts at $125,000

It’s almost a decade since this lady has passed away but still, her name can stir all the same emotions felt when she was alive. I’m talking about Princess Diana! And August 31 this year marks the Princess’ tenth death anniversary. What a tragic end to for this fairy-tale-like life. She has undoubtedly been one of the most beloved icons of the 20th century, not only because of her beautiful style but also her role as a mother and her dedication to charity. Here’s your chance to show your gratitude by bidding for a gown from Princess Diana’s personal collection. The elegant chiffon evening gown is designed by Catherine Walker and is pale blue in color. The stunning Princess wore it to the Cannes Film Festival in 1987 and also to the opening of Miss Saigon in 1989. Originally it is valued at more than $300,000.

WE tv purchased three of 80 gowns which were auctioned at Christie’s Auction House in New York City in June 1997. Shortly after the auction, the world tragically lost Diana and the dresses were thoughtfully preserved in her memory. All proceeds of the sale will go to America’s Promise Alliance, a national non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and youth — an issue that was close to Diana’s heart. The remaining dresses will be toured around the country this fall. You can bid here but before you click, let me tell you that the starting bid is $125,000 and you need to pre-qualify for it.
