Rare 5.16ct blue diamond gets a generous new owner at the Sotheby’s Hong Kong sale


The results are out…and the buyer is… Moussaieff Jewelers from London! What am I talking about? Well, the 5.16ct rare blue diamond that was up to be sold at Hong Kong through Sotheby’s. Opening the De Beers Millennium Jewels Collection at the auction, the clear blue diamond ring touted to fetch between $4.6 million and $5.8 million earned a staggering $6.4 million! The collection was initially launched by De Beers, celebrating the turn of the new millennium.

This is, in fact, the second blue diamond that Sotheby’s has sold in Hong Kong. 7.03carat Blue diamond, called as the ‘Star of Josephine‘ earned the auction house $ 9,500,000 was picked up by Hong Kong collector Joseph Lau Luen-Hung.
