The Black Centurion card from American Express

You know you lead the good life when you have the Black Centurion card from American Express. It’s so exclusive that it is not even listed anywhere on the Amex website. The only way you can get the Black Card is through an invitation from Amex. To be eligible for the invite you must be a current American Express cardholder with a good track record, and you must charge a minimum of $250,000 a year. The annual fee for the Centurion started at $1,000 but has since increased to $2,500. There are less than 10,000 Centurion cards issued worldwide. Made of pure titanium the card is a bit heavy and sets off airport metal detectors. The privileges offered with this card are quite good. There is a 1-800 number that dials up your personal Concierge. The Concierge can help you with airline reservations, getting tickets to sell out shows, or whatever else you need.

A number of rewards and accesses (exclusive clubs and airport lounges) are offered to cardmembers. On certain international flights, you can use the card to book a free companion ticket if you’re flying first class! Started out as a rumor in the 1980s, the card became a reality in 1999 when the Centurion Card was launched.
